ESL, the world's largest esports company, and MAPFRE, main sponsor of ESL Racing Series MAPFRE, announce that second season's ESL Racing Series MAPFRE Grand Finals will take place on July 21st in Gamepolis, Malaga. The Grand Finals will be streamed on ESL Spain's racing Twitch channel, ESL Spain's Facebook and Movistar eSports' YouTube channel. Thanks to the support of MAPFRE and Movistar as a sponsor and media partner, ESL Racing Series MAPFRE has become one of the most important SimRacing professional competitions in Spain.
After two months of competition in which the teams will fight to make the best times on different circuits and with different cars, only the best six will win a place in the Grand Finals. These six teams will fight to become winners of this second edition, winning the coveted title. In addition, the competition brings into play a total prize of €18,000, of which €6,000 will be for the champion.
After the success of the last edition with more than 50,000 attendees, Gamepolis has established itself as one of the most important gaming festivals in Spain. The program of this VII Malaga Video Game Festival, to be held from 19 to 21 July at the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos in the city, makes a clear commitment to esports, distributing more than 30,000 euros in cash for the winners of the tournaments.
Grand Finals Format
To achieve victory, teams must compete in three races on three different circuits and with different cars, thus rewarding the most complete team with the best performance in rFactor2.
Just like on the Regular Phase, in each of these races, each team will receive a series of points (the first, 25 points; the second, 20; the third, 16; and so on) so that at the end of the three races, the team with the most points will be the winner, keeping the emotion until the end.
The Grand Finals of the competition will take place at MAPFRE Space, an area that will become the epicentre of SimRacing at Gamepolis and will be open to the public on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th.
Throughout the fair, this Espacio MAPFRE will be the place where SimRacing lovers (and anyone who wants to try their luck) will be able to test their skills at the wheel in different tournaments that will take place throughout the days of the fair, bringing the emotion of esports to the public. In addition, those who prove to be the best will receive a prize.
Over the next few days, we will be giving you more details about the SimRacing reference event in Spain at professional and amateur level at Espacio MAPFRE.
